Network Assessment & Review

A clear picture of how your water or wastewater network is performing, where it is struggling, and what to fix first.

At a glance

  • Where the inflow is worstSeverity mapped across catchments
  • Asset conditionRead from the depth to velocity relationship
  • WSA 02 checksPipe capacity and self-cleansing velocity
  • Prioritised improvementsWith their associated costs

EDS has worked with some of Australia’s largest water and wastewater networks for more than thirty years, so we know what a healthy network looks like in the data, and what a struggling one looks like. A network assessment turns your monitoring into a clear picture of performance and condition, and a list of what to do about it.

We’ve built collection system models for councils and governments across the country, to evaluate their sewers, troubleshoot problems, propose improvements and rank them with their costs.

Looking along a large sewer pipe from a manhole, with the sensor mounting band fixed inside the entry and flow running away into the dark
Looking downstream from a manhole. Flow and depth measured at sites like this show how the network is performing, and where it is not.

Alongside an assessment

  • Model development
  • Flow monitoring for model calibration and I&I assessment
  • Development of a program for system improvement
  • Training your staff in modelling and monitoring practices
  • Real-time data evaluation as events happen, with instantaneous alarms

What an assessment can show

Where the inflow is worstInflow severity mapped across catchments, so CCTV inspections and rehabilitation budgets go where they are needed.
Asset conditionShifts in the depth to velocity relationship that reveal blockages, sediment, sags, displaced joints and infiltration points before crews report them.
What should not be thereDry weather flow signatures that reveal cross connections, illegal discharges and stormwater tied into the sewer.
Capacity and level of servicePipe capacity and self-cleansing velocity checked against the WSA 02 Sewerage Code of Australia.

Results from the field

30% less spent on unnecessary relining

Inflow severity mapped across catchments from reliable flow data sent CCTV inspections and rehabilitation budgets where they were needed, and compliance targets were reached sooner.
